Husbands,
Wives and Lovers, at Gallery Karon, Ashland, OR June 08,
2008
Karen Wasser, the owner of Galerie
Karon in Ashland asked my wife Leslie and me to show our works
as part of Karon's annual exhibit Husbands, Wives and
Lovers, which is now in its 4th year. Leslie showed her
costume art, and I showed large mono-giclees and photographs
that fit the theme. The show opened on the First Friday Art
Walk of Ashland.
When I first arrived, I noted that
some of my whimsical watercolors of The Martian IRS,
the topic of the previous months show, had been relegated
to the floor and window space. I was glad though that they had
not been totally dismissed, which would have been logical with
the limited space available. Karen assured me those Martians
are still a good draw; we will keep em for a while.
She also told me that very soon the size of her gallery will
just about double. She will expand into the space next door.
To my delight Steve and Dan were there
and filled the room with their delicate guitar&bass chamber
jazz (my terminology). That plus the Barco Reale di Carmignano,
the case of Italian red donated by my friends Annette and John
for the occasion, got me in the right mood for conversations
with Art Walkers who came by and told me stories such as last
week I came in and bought your Martian Beautician for
my wife and similar good news.
As before at Gallerie Karon, it was
a truly enjoyable evening for both Leslie and me. Thank you
Karen, I hope there will be many more. The exhibit will run
until July 2nd. Gallery Karon is on the corner A street and
4th in Ashland.
