The StudioWolf North Bend and Bandon Shows

Here is a short report on my last two shows. First, a one-day show-and-tell in August in Bandon at "2nd Street Gallery" together with my friend Dale Wells; second, as guest artists in North Bend at the "Artists Loft" in September. I'll start with the latter.

"Musicians and their Instruments" was my theme in North Bend. The ladies most helpful in putting the show and publicity together were Patsy Billington, Barbara Mahon and Sharon Backues, primary artists at the "Artist Loft." Thanks also to Leslie Wolf for helping with the transport of all the stuff and being a good listener to my chamber jazz. Yes, I played the keyboard - on and off - during the reception, alternating with Madilain McCullan (flute) and Jerry Schneider (guitar and vocal). The acoustic in the hall was outstanding and the music well liked by the Art Walkers (the reception was part of Coos Bay Area's 2nd Thursday Art Walk). It was a most enjoyable evening for me, mainly because of the warm friendship extended to me by both the local artists and musicians. My art will hang there until the next Coos Bay Art Walk on October 11.

At the 2nd Street Gallery in Bandon, Dale Wells and I gave two one-day "performances," the first on on July 29 and the second on August 19, as part of the Gallery's "Meet the Artist" summer program. Originally we were scheduled to have separate events, but the gallery owner, Richard Rahmlow, agreed with us it would be better if we did the same program both days: Dale demonstrating and I playing the keyboard. And that's what we did. Charles of Charleston, a well-known local marine painter, whom we knew from previous exhibits at Coos Art Museum, showed up for a visit and made sure Dale and I behaved properly. Richard had assembled display panels around us where we could display our art and brag about it to the visitors. Richard, an accomplished photographer and teacher, also took a few photos (the last five of the series attached to this report).
